BEHROUZ BIRYANI – REVIEWED

Behrouz Biryani belongs to the house of Faasos.com. They deliver Persian Biryani all over town. Apart from a variety of Biryanis, they also have a couple of desserts on the menu. Mind you, it is a delivery only service. There is no dine-in.

Since I’m not a fan of eating out on Valentine’s and an invitation to try out Behrouz Biryani from team Buzzerati was waiting, we decided to order in dinner.
We tried the Paneer Biryani which is priced at INR 269.

Delivery – As requested, the Biryani was served at sharp 9. I mean, not a minute more, nor a minute less. Loved the punctuality.

First impressions – Very regal looking and neat packaging. Black box with gold imprint. Within it, another black box containing Biryani, a small bowl of raita and a gulab jamun. Also, these, spoon and freshner completed the box. I would say the packaging is very well thought of.

The Food – The Biryani was hot with raisins sprinkled on the top. They call their biryanis to be of Persian origin. I cannot comment on the authenticity of that since I am not well versed with Persian biryanis.  The quantity is enough for 2 people with average appetite.

The amount of paneer was appropriate and the aroma was enticing. But but but this wasn’t my kind of Biryani. I found the dry spices like cardamom, star anise etc to be too over powering. In fact, the Biryani was extremely subtle with all the flavour from whole spices. I prefer my biryanis to have a stronger flavour with layered gravy vegetables. This one had no gravy and was extremely mild.

On the plus side, there was no oily residue and no tummy issues after eating this one. It was definitely hygienic and healthy. The raita was thick and derived a lovely flavour due to addition of mint. It went well with the Biryani.

So if you like mild biryanis with whole spices, this is perfect for you.
If you have a desi palate that craves masala, you might find this just about okay.

The food was complementary, but my views are totally unbiased.

Thank you team Buzzeratti and Behrouz biryani for reaching out.
